Cycle 2 Blog of the Week

Are people you would consider "heroes" or role models also people who display high moral integrity?

  1. The people that I consider "heroes" or role models are sometimes people that display high moral integrity, but sometimes not so much. My hero is my Mom, and she displays very high moral integrity and has taught me everything I know today about making decisions and the tools to use in everyday life. She is the reason I am who I am today and therefore she is my hero. Although my Mom is my hero and she displays high moral integrity, some of my role models lack moral integrity, like celebrities. One of my biggest role models is a celebrity and I look up to her because she appears amazing but some of the choices she makes make her moral integrity questionable. The bottom line is my hero, the person who I look up to the most in life displays high moral integrity, but some of the role models i aspire to look like or what not, do not.

  2. The people that i consider my heroes and role models to an extent do display high moral integrity in my life. For example my mother is my hero in my life and she displays high moral integrities in my life. I follow my moms role on how she handles certain situations and how she acts in time of decisions. I follow my moms role not only as a mother but as a person and her decisions and opinions mean a lot to me and i follow her morals very much so because she displays high moral integrity. But on the other hand my role model is Kim Kardashian and some of her decisions do not display such high moral integrity, such as posing for Play Boy, but i still look up to her not only as a fashion icon, but as a person as well.

  3. I certainly consider my role models to be people who display high moral integrity. Role models are supposed to be somebody to look up to, learn from, and take after. If my role models, my two older sisters, didn’t display high moral integrity, than they would be my role models for the wrong reason. I admire them for their honesty, outlook on things, and their calm and respectful demeanor. The reason it is vital for my sisters to portray high moral integrity is because they are the ones who taught me to stick to my personal values independent of what others are doing. If they are emphasizing the importance of staying strong and true to myself, and weren’t doing it themselves, I would have no motivation to listen to them. “Practice what you preach”. I follow my sisters by example more so than what they say. Therefore, because my role models demonstrate high moral integrity, it influences me to do so also.

  4. To me, I choose my heroes and role models BECAUSE they display good moral values and integrity. I believe that a role model is someone who you can look up to and follow by example. I wouldn't want to follow someone who makes poor decisions and live their life immorally. As children we depend on our immediate family to lead us along a moral path. However, now that we are young adults we see our friends more than our parents. Choosing friends is exactly the same as choosing role models. You should want to surround yourself with people who have moral integrity and will help you make moral decisions as well. This idea goes hand-in-hand with the phrase "You are who you hang out with". Ultimately we have the final say in our choices, but the people we surround ourselves with can also make an impact as well.

  5. I think the people I consider "heroes" do display high moral integrity. All the people I think are heroes, are people I look up to and respect. These people have high morals and standards about life which I use to help set my own morals and create my own views. The people in my life who i think are heroes respect themselves and know right from wrong. They do their best to make moral and Christian decisions. On the other hand, celebrities and other famous icons that society considers heroes do not always have high moral integrity. We may look up to people for certain reasons, but for other reasons, we realize they are not heroes in every aspect. Many celebrities do not have high moral integrity, but we look up to them anyway.

  6. Theres a difference between your own personal heroes and the heroes the media displays. Your own personal hero should be someone you admire because of what they say and do. A personal hero should be someone who shows moral integrity and inspires you to do great things. When the media portrays a hero, its not always the moral choice of a person.

    ReplyDelete
  7. A hero is not always someone with high moral integrity. Teenagers look towards celebrities as role models because of the way they are presented in the media. They are shown as these perfect people with the perfect lives. But, as you can see in magazines and newspapers, it's one tragedy after another. I can't lie, I praise some celebrities just like everyone else. But, I know that their lives are nothing to aspire for. I look up to real life heroes, such as my dad or a friend. They are normal people doing extraordinary things for others and that is something I admire.

  8. The ones that I look up to are amazing people. They are virtuous, courageous, and full of kindness. And even if they don't realize it, they set great examples for others to follow which even slowly started to change the way I acted. They know and do the right thing even if it's hard or embarrassing, and they don't hold back. Because of this I would call them interesting, because it's sometimes hard to find someone like that. So, with is I would have to say that they do display high moral integrity because they are always trying their best and focusing on doing good.

  9. I don't believe someone is a role model without having morals or displaying integrity. I feel that you become a role model or hero because you're put up on a pedestal for doing something so great or just by being a good person, that you aspire to be like them. Nobody aspires to be a person that puts down other people making them feel insignificant, intentionally hurts somebody else, or doesn't do anything to benefit the whole. I don't want to follow in somebody's footsteps if they are walking down the wrong path. In my eyes, heroes are people that do extraordinary things for good causes because they want to, not because they think it will make them look like a better person. They are people that you look up to and that you are able to learn from, while inspiring others to be better people from their example. When we were young, everything was always simpler, but I know that even from that age I always said, "I want to be just like you when I get older, Mom" and to this day, that is the one thing that hasn't changed in the last ten years.

  10. The people who I would describe as a role model or hero defiantly display moral integrity. The people I look up to and would like to model myself off of are people I think I can learn from. The people who I look up to are the people who I one day aspire to be. Everyone wants to be a good person for the most part which is why I know I am not alone when I say I look for someone with strong moral convictions in a role model. While i may obsess over celebrities who seem immoral or may not display the best behavior, I probably would not call these people role models or model my life off of the way they live theirs. The people I truly look up to have traits such as honesty, compassion, courage, selflessness and intelligence.

  11. Most of the people that I look to as role models and heroes tend to display some level of high moral integrity, and often that is why I admire that person. For example, one of the people that I look to most as a role model is my grandmother, because of the quiet strength, grace, and faith with which she dealt with the losses of her husband and two children. I recognize that no one person is perfect, which is why I do not model myself fully after one person, but I often take inspiration from different parts of different people. My sister has always been a person that I look up to and model myself after, but I have learned as much from her mistakes and flaws as I have from the traits of high moral integrity that she possesses, and the same goes for just about everyone that I look up to. There are a few celebrities that I look to as role models, but I never model myself after everything that they are. I try to focus on the aspects of them that defy their expectations of a lack of moral integrity, and I find it a great source of inspiration to pull from. I think that there is something within each person that could be admired as a quality of high moral integrity, and I think that who we look to as role models and why reflects just as much, if not more, about us as it does about the people we look to.

  12. Not all heroes or role models display high moral integrity. Role models don't always do the right thing. I know my role model does not truly show moral integrity all the time she is my sister and a human being. No one has high moral integrity 24/7, everyone makes a mistake sooner or later but we still look up to them for help and support. I know the some role models are celebrities and as we all know they do not show moral integrity most of the time. No one is perfect and no one will have moral integrity.

  13. The people I look up to and consider my "heroes" definitely display high moral integrity. My mom was adopted when she was about 4 months old. From the moment she was adopted to this very day her mothers side of the family completely disowned her and my grandparents because they didn't believe in adoption. This didn't stop them from having a family and being happy. My mother is reminded of this everyday but still goes on to live her life as a kind, genuine, moral person. I look at my mom as a role model for many reasons but one being her morals. She is kind and puts everyone before herself. Even though she makes mistakes, she's human, we all make mistakes. In her mistakes I learn how to become a better person.

  14. The people I look up to and consider my "heroes" display high moral integrity most definitely. I believe the main reason for why I look up to them so much is because I wish to be able to make the same decisions as they do. In other words, when my role models or heroes are faced with a tremendous conflict, they almost make it look easy to choose the right answer whether it is what they want to do or not. I think self respect goes hand in hand with high moral integrity. When faced with a conflict, my role models maintain great dignity and self respect. They inspire me to know what my morals are and how to respect and stick with them.

  15. The people I consider "heroes" or role models are surely also people who display high moral integrity. Whenever I see somebody who makes a truly good decision, I look up to them so much more. Not even good decisions for themselves, but more so decisions that will benefit other people. This isn't saying that all my role models are perfect. I'm not perfect, nobody is. But the people accepting and admitting that make them even better role models for me.

  16. people who I would consider "heroes" or role models also people who display high moral integrity. I base my life on my morals and values. The people i look up to definitely have high moral integrity. My dad is one of my hero's and role models. His moral integrity is part of what makes him such a strong man. He lives his life with such compassion and determination, and i love watching him live. His heroic values are based on his moral integrity

  17. A main trait of a hero to me is someone with high moral integrity. My uncle Joe is my hero and he was one of the most moral people I've ever known. He was a port authority police officer and died on 9/11 trying to rescue people from the building. My family is pretty sure he was able to save some people from the building and the fact that he would risk his own life for the lives of others shows his values. He always went out of his way to do the right thing for people. For example, he saved a man from committing suicide by dangling off a bridge to hold onto him from falling. He is my hero because of his selfless acts and compassions towards all people.

  18. To me, a hero is someone that I can look up to and say that I want to be like them when I am older. Even someone that perhaps I would make the godmother or father of my children. I think yes, a hero displays high moral integrity. My heroes are my parents. They constantly do everything in their power to provide for me and my siblings and I could not be more thankful for them. Also, they are very moral people. As a family we go to church every sunday, they are very nice and caring and lead good lives, which is what I think exactly what a "moral" person should be like. All heroes have high moral integrity.

  19. I think that people I consider heroes also have high moral integrity. My parents and grandparents are my heroes. They are always there for me when I need them. I try to have the intergity that they have. I try to be honest with my parents becasue they are always honest with me. My parents are always truthful and supportative of me. I know that whatever I want to do I have my parents support. You always have decisions to make that can sometimes be hard. Sometimes even when you make the wrong choice you can learn from that mistake.

  20. I feel that, to me, moral integrity is a very important quality in someone who I want to model myself after. I feel that my parents are my greatest role models, and their moral integrity is very high. I've learned a lot about moral integrity from both my mom and my dad, and I feel as though having a high moral integrity is extremely important in life. In addition, my Aunt was a great role model to me, and she also had high moral integrity. She suffered with cancer for over eighteen years, on and off, and no matter what, she didn't complain, lash out at anyone, or do anything she would regret. She attended a weekly prayer group, believed that morality was extremely important in life, and never gave up on Religion when she didn't get the results she wanted from a doctor. Although she was sick, she was never selfish, and always tried her best to do what was best for those she loved most. While I know that both my parents and my Aunt had times when they had hard decisions to make, its because of the fact that they never let go of their moral integrity, and made hard decisions, that I hope to be just like each of them one day.

  21. I feel that the people that we consider as "heroes" and role models are people of moral integrity. When I consider someone to be a role model I think of someone who is a good person who makes the right, moral decisions. To be considered a role model, one must have made decisions based on their morals that were instilled in them at an early age. Therefore, I do believe that heroes and role models are people of high moral integrity. I would consider my sister a role model because she possess qualities and traits of a nice, caring, moral person. She is the person that I look up to in decision-making because she always knows the moral way to handle a situation. My sister is a person of high moral integrity and is also a great role model. Because who I believe are role models in my life (for example my sister) I do believe that they are people of high moral integrity.

  22. The person who I consider to be my "hero" is someone of moral integrity. My role model is my sister because she is eight years older than I am, and has been through what I am going through presently in high school. With my sister's morals, she has shared them with me so that I can have the confidence in myself to become a sympathetic, compassionate and moral person myself. Having moral integrity is a very important quality to portray in yourself because it makes you reach the goal of being confident enough to make smart decisions just like your role models. If they are not smart decisions or do not agree with your role model, then maybe it would be best to find a new "hero" or strengthen your mind and make decisions for yourself.

  24. There are many people that I have encountered throughout the sixteen years of my life. However, only people who display high moral integrity are people I would consider role models or heroes. To me, a person with high moral integrity is someone you can look to for guidance, confidence, leadership, care, and support. Some of the role models that I look up to are those that have been important religious figures in the world. In fact, one of my role models is Mother Theresa. Mother Theresa was a woman who was willing to make small sacrifices and do little actions that proved to have great impacts in the world. To me, Mother Theresa is the definition of a role model. She is not someone who was followed by paparazzi or constantly interviewed. Instead, she was a person of high moral integrity that was appreciated for her small acts of kindness. In addition to role models, I also have heroes in my life. My heroes are my parents. After all, my mom and dad both offer me support and are always there for me even in the toughest of times. The fact that they made the sacrifice to let me come to IHA also defines them as heroes in my eyes. To me, these are what heroes are; they are not people who have all the fame and riches in the world. Instead, they are the people that you can find right in your everyday life that have made a difference and impact on the person you have become.

  25. I believe that we choose heroes or role models in our lives because of the moral integrity that they present. Someone that I consider my “hero” would be my mother. My mom displays high moral integrity through the decisions she makes and the situations that she encounters. My mother teaches me every day through the things that she does, making moral decisions that reflect on her as a person. However, sometimes my mom doesn’t make the smartest of choices; yet, that doesn’t make her a bad person or shows that she doesn’t present a high moral integrity. People make mistakes in life, but it is what we do with them that show who we are. Whenever my mom makes a mistake, she learns from her experience and uses it for future references. Ultimately, role models or heroes in my life are titled such because of the high moral integrity displayed.

  26. I think that in todays society people look up to the wrong types of role models, as I am guilty as well. We all look up to the pop stars, actresses and actors. Many of these people don't display high moral integrity, but we still look up to them anyway. Some role models and heroes that I look up to would be athletes because I look up to them for motivation. I admirer their hard work and dedication and these athletes display what I strive to be. This also doesnt mean that they are displaying a high level of moral integrity and usually they aren't. Some of these players are selfish and do things against the grace of god, but are still looked up to by many including myself. I think before I choose a role model or hero I really need to evaluate the person as a whole and not just their athletic abilities because many are not based on their morals.

  27. I believe that when we think of a hero, we think of someone who becomes popular for doing one thing that is good and that saves the day. Although doing a good deed such as saving someone from a near-death experience is very helpful, I believe that a true hero is someone who repeatedly aims to do the right thing. A person with a high moral integrity is well-rounded and understands that there has to be a constant effort to remain that way. Many people in society look at heroes as people who are famous celebrities because they often beautiful and donate money to charities. I do not think that this is the only type of hero. I know people who have "saved people's lives" just by going about their everyday routines and reaching out to someone - to me this is a hero with high moral intergrity.

  28. Role models are people you aspire to be like and act like. My role models, as I believe most people's role models are, are people of high moral integrity. I look at people who have concrete morals and admire them for their strength and courage regardless of society's reaction towards them and their belief. Most morals are contradict what society says is "ok." I think deep down everyone looks at people with high morals and somewhere inside of them aspires to be like these people and admire them.

  29. My biggest role model is my older brother Aaron, and he definitely has a high moral integrity. I honestly cannot say that there is one really bad mistake he has made ever in his life, although that may reflect my opinion only and not so much his. But he is helpful and kind to everyone, and a lot different than most 20 year old guys. He doesn’t care about drinking and girls, but knows what he wants in the future and wants to do it for God, while raising a good family etc. Although I do think many people today have bad role models, such as singers and actresses, who definitely do not have any integrity, at least morally.

  30. Yes, I believe that the people I consider "heroes" or role models also people who display high moral integrity. The people I choose to look up to are people whose examples I want follow, who carry high moral integrity and good values. Two examples are my parents, two people who I aspire to be like. Of course they make mistakes and have their flaws but they are able to resolve them in mature and honest ways and help me to do the same. But overall, my parents are two very loving, sincere and supportive people. They make decisions based on what they believe is best for themselves and others. They are willing to do anything for others and expect nothing in return. Ultimately, the people I chose to be role models in my life are people with good values, loving, honest, caring, appreciative, confident, support, guidance, and high moral integrity.

  31. Yes and no. It all depends on why you call a certain person your "hero." If you admire their rebelliousness, more likely than not, that person probably doesn't really have high moral integrity. On the other hand, if you look up to someone for their honesty and pure ethics, then that person probably has very high moral integrity. Ideally, being a "hero" or role model is synonymous with being a morally sound person, but again, it all depends on why you look up to someone.

  32. A hero is a person that should display high moral integrity but in our society those are not the types of people we typically consider a hero. I myself have both types of heroes but I respect those who have morals and dignity more than the others. My four grandparents are people I truly look up to and respect them for their modesty, humility, wise decision making, and over all character. I also look up to stars, although they do mess up and do not always pick the smartest road to go down, i respect them for the time and effort very few of them choose to put towards important charities and projects. Even so if i were describing a hero or role model i would choose my grandparents or people with high moral integrity because I respect the others but i do not look up to them.

  33. It all depends on a person's personality. A person with high moral integrity might be considered a hero to some, but maybe not to others. Honestly a hero to me is someone who takes risks, makes mistakes, and recovers. My sister may not have high moral integrity, but she is my hero. She has made bad decisions and messed up, but she is a smarter and better person because of it.

  34. Yes, because my role models and heroes teach me how to be. If they do not display moral integrity, then what am I doing for myself by being around people who behave in an immoral fashion. Therefore yes, I do believe that heroes and role models have high moral integrity.

  36. Yes and no, do my role models display a high moral integrity. My personal role model is my mom. I admire and respect how she stands up for what she believes in and her high moral integrity. I also admire how she always tries to speak the truth. My athletic role model is Michael Phelps. I admire his hard work and dedication to his talent. Although he is a great athlete, he appears to have a low moral integrity. I still look up to him but more on a athletic level.

  37. Personally, my own role models are limited to only people who have high morals and integrity. There are celebrities and athletes that I admire because of their talents, but they do horrible things like cheat on their spouses, use steroids, party way too much, and mess around with the law. Do I think they are talented in their careers? Of course. Are they my "role models"? Absolutely not. The real people that they are don't reflect what I want to be 10, 20, 50 years down the road. I think that more people, young kids especially, have to learn the difference between a role model and a celebrity/entertainer/athlete sooner. They have to find role models who encourage them to be the best they can be, both internally and externally. Fortunately, some of these celebrities do make fantastic role models. Some of my role models also include my parents, family members, and popular people who use their lives to better the world.

  38. Everyone has different reasons for what makes someone their "hero" or role model. However, I personally choose my role models based on their actions, including moral integrity and values. I usually look up to someone that I would want to be like in the future or now, so it is important to find someone who has good moral beliefs. My "heroes" today are my parents because of their hard work, strong beliefs, and overall positive influence on me. I've looked up to them since I was little, and I hope to follow their example of high moral integrity.

  39. I think it all depends on what you value. I value high moral integrity, but others may not. Someone's hero might be Paris Hilton, and she's not exactly the best role model for someone trying to live out a life filled with good choices. On the other hand, someone's role model might be Audrey Hepburn, and let's be honest, she was one classy lady. Personally, I would choose Audrey over Paris. I appreciate people who make good choices. I really don't have any "heroes" in my life, but if I had to choose one, I would probably go for someone who makes/made good choices.

  40. My role models display high moral integrity depending on the situation. Now that i think about it, they do a majority of the time, but that is not the reason why they are my role models. My mom is one of my heroes, and she displays moral integrity a majority of the time. She always seems to make the right decision or handle situations the mature way to an extent that it's annoying. Sure, she has her flaws and her moments where she has a lapse in judgment, but i can honestly say that she displays high moral integrity. On the other hand though, i have role models that do not display high moral integrity. Celebrities for example do not. I look up to them because they work hard and made something of their lives, but they don't always do the smartest things. Every day there is a new story or scandal in the tabloids involving the actors or artists that i love, but those scandals barely effect my opinion of them.

  41. Are people you would consider "heroes" or role models also people who display high moral integrity?
I believe that the people who play an active and supportive role in my life are my role models. Therefore, I ensure that my heroes are of the highest moral standards, because I refuse to look up to someone who does not share the same beliefs and morals as I. However, throughout the years I do admit to having a few role models who were in fact did not have the greatest moral integrity. When i was younger I would look up to someone who seemingly looked "cool," or to someone whom i wanted to look or act like. As i grew and matured into who i am today, I slowly but surely realized that the people who negatively effected me are not the type of people who should be my role models.

  42. I believe that the people in my life that I consider "heroes" or role models display a high moral integrity. A role model is someone who possesses the qualities that we would like to acquire and someone who has affected us in a way that makes you want to become a better person. My grandmother who passed away 3 years ago was one of the most compassionate, hardworking, and driven woman I have ever met. Her passion for her family surpassed any type of confession that a person would normally demonstrate to her loved ones. She was also one of the most honest person and didn't even realize the impact on her small acts of kindness to others. In my opinion, a person does not demonstrate a high moral integrity, then they should not be considered a role model.

  43. My personal role models and heroes are definitely people who display high moral integrity. I feel that the heroes in one's life should be people who embody moral characteristics. The role models in my life are probably the most selfless, compassionate, and courageous people I know. As others have already said, people shouldn't consider someone a hero if he or she doesn't have a well-rounded moral character. In my opinion, high moral integrity is something a person should have in order to be looked up to.

  44. The people who i consider my heroes do display high moral integrity. My mom is someone i consider my hero. She is a very courageous, virtuous and caring person that displays a very moral character. I look after her as she displays great values of making the right decisions and handling many situations. On the other hand, most celebrities do not display high moral integrity, but one of my heroes that i look up to other then my mom is Derek Jeter. I personally feel that he as a baseball player does display high moral integrity. He is one of the few baseball players that never and hopefully never will take steroids, he is a very calm, supporting, and compassionate man. I also think outside of his baseball career he is a very down to earth man, he doesn't seem to ever have any "bad" attention on him. If your hero does not display high moral integrity, I do not think they are considered role models.

  45. In my opinion, in order for someone to be considered a role model they must display high moral integrity. When you are choosing a role model it is supposed to be someone that you would aspire to be like. I feel that most people want to aspire to be someone great, and in order for that to happen they must have morals. My mom is my role model because she is strong, independent, caring, hardworking, and has very high moral integrity, and she has passed these traits down to me.

She is also considered a hero to me because she is a very kind ad loving person to everyone. She is a person who displays high moral integrity. Another person that I consider to be a role model is my favorite actress. She is a person who I look up to. She tries to do everything she can to please her fans. 47. yes people I consider heroes have high moral integrity because heroes are somebody you look up to and adore. They are people, who to me, do the right thing and act with morals. They should be people who do good and whose good acts give you hope and something you aspire to be like with your own good acts. They try their best to do what is right even if others say it's not, that truly is a quality of a hero.

  48. Yes I agree that people that are my heroes display high moral integrity. I feel heroes don't have to be extraordinary individuals, but they are individuals that display attributes that make them admirable. For example, my mom is one of my heroes. She is a nurse, and seeing what she deals with on a daily basis is inspiring. She cares for sick people giving them hope, and strength to fight their disease and to ensure them that everything will be ok. My mom is very strong and caring. She is always there for me to support me even if I make bad decisions. With everything she deals with, she still has a smile on her face and is proud of who she is, and that to me is a true hero. Any person can be a hero, if you care and help others around you.

  49. A hero, or a role model, is someone I consider to be someone close, and of high moral integrity. My mom is definitely my hero. She is nice, giving, confident, put together, and loving. Everything she does is well thought out, and done with love. She is the kind of person who will do anything from cooking for people in need, to dealing with me and my siblings problems, no matter how bizarre they might be. I am so blessed to have a mom like her, and I know that when I need advice she will always give me guidance and comfort. My mom is very true to her morals, and I aspire to be like her.

  50. Yes the heroes that i look up to display a ton of different qualities but the ones that stick out the most are definatley their gratitude, and integrity. I aspire to be a strong and sincere person just like them. life is hard and many people feel that you need to go with the flow rather than be yourself and the person you truly are. in my heroes i feel that they are totally focused on what they want in life and whtat is important to them with keeping thebeneifts of others on their mind.

  51. The people I consider to be "heroes" do have moral integrity. I believe this because my definition of a hero is some one who does something for the good of others which would entail good moral integrity. If someone does not have good morals or values then their intentions and the way they act could be very bad which would make them the complete opposite of a hero.

  53. My role models are definitely people that display high moral integrity. When you look up to someone it's usually because you want to be like them or adopt some of their best qualities. People would't normally look up to someone because of their bad characteristics. So in my opinion, if you idolize someone they should have high moral integrity. My biggest role model is actually my 23 year old brother's former girlfriend. I admire her because she sets high standards for herself, and is an extremely focused and well-driven individual. I aspire to be like her when I'm older, for my own benefits. She is on the path to success and constantly makes morally right decisions. One of my biggest goals is to be successful in the future, so I think choosing her as my biggest role model was a really good decision.

  54. People I consider to be my heroes display high moral integrity. These are the characteristics I look for when choosing a role model.A good role model is always looking to do the right thing even when no one is watching. The role models in my life are my parents. They always try to do the next right thing and set good examples for me to follow.

  55. The people I deem as “heroes” or role models in my life certainly have high moral integrity. In my opinion, a role model is someone you can look up to, someone you admire, and someone you even aspire to be like. The role models that people choose say a great deal about who they are. If someone considers a celebrity that has been arrested, does drugs, and is constantly caught drinking a role model, then that clearly reveals a lot about someone and their own integrity. I consider both my parents to be my role models. While they are not perfect, they have set a great example of high moral integrity for both my sister and I. They are very hard working, considerate, honest, and have instilled many values in me. It is important for everyone to choose a role model to act as a guide or inspiration in their life. However, it is a choice that reflects the person that you truly are.

  56. For me, I chose my heroes by people I would like to model myself after. I look up to people who are ambitious, successful, loving, well-liked, and just generally well rounded. I feel like a lot of people look up to individuals in the media who lack morals, such as professional athletes, actors, or rappers. These people honestly lead pathetic lives, full of things that will never make them happy. As much as I enjoy listening to lil Wayne, I don't think that he has moral integrity and therefore he isnt a role model. I strongly believe that you should surround yourself with who you want to be. I look up so much to my brother, sister, and parents. I try in my daily life to act as though I could be a role model for someone else too. Though my brother, being my biggest role model, certainly isn't perfect, he has many qualities that I admire, and his overwhelming sense of humility even after he has succeeded greatly is something I admire and try to work towards. Just through surrounding myself with who I want to be, I am also choosing role models with moral integrity.

  57. People I would consider heroes are people who display high moral integrity. To me, my mom is my hero and she is someone with high moral integrity. Some people consider celebrities their heroes or role models but I certainly don't because to me, celebrities do not have high moral integrity. Celebrities will do whatever it takes and will lower themselves in order to become more famous. My mom is always there for my sister and I and she's always there to drive us and talk to us. She does what she believes in and she doesn't let anyone else tell her otherwise. I want to be just like my mom when I grow up and not lowering myself like a celebrity will.

  58. Personally one of the reasons why I look up to the people I consider to be role models or "heroes", is because they display high moral integrity. My roles models/heroes are people that I strive to be like, because of their high morals and values. These people share common qualities such as living each day with values that I admire. For example these these people help and care for others, and put others before themselves. I feel like these people always try to do what is right, and strive to be their best everyday.

  59. The people who I look up to and consider my “role models” most definitely display high moral integrity. I think part of being a role model is having morals and boundaries. The reason I look up to the people that I do is because of their ability to make good decisions, their superior set of morals , and their honesty, three things which I aspire to have. When thinking of the word hero, in general, I think of the words focused, inspirational, independent and strong, all things I believe a person needs in order to have and maintain moral integrity.

I look up to them because they are the people I would like myself to become.

  63. I think most heroes/role models that are humble and actually sincere in what they do generally have high morals and values. But there are those people out there that only do things that make them look heroic because they want to be recognized for it, it looks good, and they want to show off about it. Those people are not humble or sincere and I have noticed that those people do not have high morals or values. Those people only look like heroes and role models, but the true people that should be followed are the people that are sincere and humble in what they are doing.

I believe in my self and have my own morals and beliefs that I follow. I do though admire qualities about certain people and the career paths they choose to take like doctors. To take responsibility for someone else's life is very brave. I admire how independent they are while so many people are dependent on them. I choose to live my own life by my own standards and beliefs also. If I need guidance I can go to God. I don’t need to look up to someone else and let them influence my choices.- Gloria Siclari

I value people with high moral integrity as I try to set high morals for myself. I would not look up to someone who does not present themselves in the manner I want to be seen as. Other people, however, look to celebrities as role models or heroes. The majority of celebrities today do not set a good example as a role model and that is why I do not look up to them. I feel that if you are going to consider someone your hero it should be someone who is a good person in every aspect of life, someone who would be humble and not even realize they such an influence on you.

  68. I feel that the best kind of hero is one that makes mistakes. Greek mythology gives its heroes moral flaws in order to highlight their human traits and make them more relatable. The heroes in Greek mythology would often be considered heroes not because of their supernatural powers, but because they overcome great obstacles that were created by their flaws. Similarly, people that I look up to indeed often display moral integrity, but it is the strength they display when their powers, or morals, fall short that makes them worthy of admiration in my eyes. I think I would be less inclined to look up to someone who shows nothing but good morals, than the person who often has to overcome the flaws that prevent them from doing the same.

She has made mistakes in the past and she guides me so that I will not make the same mistakes. I look up to her because of her strength to always do the right thing. Her morals guide every decision she makes and she does everything she can to help me realize that moral should guide my decisions too.

  72. My heroes and role models are those who display high moral integrity. To be a role model does not mean that you do not make mistakes but that you look at the whole picture that is bigger than yourself. I have many role models in my life who display high moral integrity through their decision making. These people make a decision not only based on how the outcome will affect them, but on what effects their decisions will have on others. My role models stand up for what they believe is right without compromising their values. They have the courage to do the right thing even when it is the hardest thing. For a hero is not someone who displays strength in the face of success, but someone who displays strength in the face of failure.

  73. To me, a hero is someone with high morals and integrity. Without those qualities, I don't think it is possible to be heroic. When I look up to someone, it is not because they are popular or artificial, it is because they have freely chosen to do something productive with their time in order to help others, and not just themselves. I know from my own experiences that life presents people with difficult choices and it takes heroic qualities, such as high morals and integrity, to make the right choice.

  74. I think people who are heroes or role models do display at least some type of moral integrity. I've often heard it said that heroes are people who do what has to be done, regardless of the circumstances...and I think that's true. But that doesn't necessarily require a high moral integrity. For me, my hero is my sister, but it's not because she has high moral integrity. It's because she's taught me more about life in almost 14 years than I could ever hope to learn from anyone or anything else. But she's 13, she's just learning about what morals are and how to apply them to her life. I also think it depends on the type of person you are. If you're a person of high moral integrity than you're more likely to idolize someone who has that same moral integrity. So I think it's a benefit if a hero has a high moral integrity, because they're less likely to do non-moral actions, which encourages people to idolize them. I think it's a benefit, but not necessarily a requirement.

  75. For me to consider a person a hero or a "role model", they have to display high moral integrity. a role model is a person you look up to, because it is a person you aspire to be like. it sort of defines the type of person you are. for example, my role model is my dad because he is hardworking, and puts everyone's needs before him. He is very kind and does everything for the good of my family. I look up to him, and hope to be like him when I'm older.

I think also to display high moral integrity you have to be honest with the bad decisions, and mistakes you have made in the past, this helps you to make better decisions and have better morals and values, which will help you shape yourself into a better well rounded person.

  77. I think it depends on who we look to as our individual "heroes" or "role models." In my life, my heroes and role models are people with high moral integrity. The reason why I believe that when you put two and two together, your role model or hero is someone with great high moral integrity. For me, my role model is my dad along with a few other people. My dad has taught me so much and I believe that the reason why I look up to him is because he has his own standards and he sets the bar high for himself. Basically, you can say he "goes for the gold." My dad has made such a huge impact on my life that I try to carry the same high moral integrity as he does which I think brings me to becoming an all around great person.

  79. When I think of someone in my life who I consider a "hero," I think of many qualities. The biggest quality that a hero needs to possess in my opinion is moral integrity. It would be a waste of time and energy to look up to someone that wasn't a good person. It would defeat the whole purpose of having a role model. My dad is my hero because throughout his life, he never showed me anything less than the greatest sense of moral integrity. Everything he did was in the best interest of his family or anyone involved for that matter. I think that I have adapted my dad's quality of moral integrity and I am so thankful for that because I know that I can be a role model for people now.

  80. In my life the people who i consider to be my "hero" and my role model, i look up to them with great respect and tend to make decisions off of what i think is right that they are doing. They would have to be a good person, someone who cares for others, someone who is always there for someone, and someone who people can look up to. I believe that the person does not have to be the most popular person but they have to have the qualities to define my type of hero. In everyday life we all faced with problems that we sometimes have to go to others for support or for assistance with. My hero would be my older sister because even though she is out on her and not living at home, I know if I ever have a problem or just need to talk i know she is always there for me to give me advice or just to make me feel better. If i am annoyed at home with my parents i can always talk to my sister and she either tells me to ignore them or she tells me not to worry cause she is getting the same feed back from our parents.

  81. Yes, the person I would consider to be my role model does display high moral integrity, which is the reason why they are my role model. A role model is someone that displays qualities or attitudes in which other people try to follow. With this in mind, role models should always try to choose the right thing, knowing that others look up to them and follow their lead. When our role models make a mistake we should learn from their mistake which would strengthen our moral values.

I don’t really have a certain person that I look up too but if I did it would definitely be someone in my family like my grandmother or my parents, people in my everyday life that are always there for me, help me with making right decisions and people that I know I can count on, those are role models for me.

Personally a hero is definitely someone who I have experienced one on one, who has influenced me and led me to follow their example.
