Over the past semester what has changed or been reinforced about your moral viewpoint?

30 comments:

  1. At the beginning of the year, i wasn't sure what i was going to be learning about in morality class. Not only has it taught me the catholic views on important topics throughout society, but it has also been a constant reminder that my opinion is important while shaping my personal morals. The relationships i build with the people around me will allow me to learn more about myself. As I mature, it is necessary to find out what i like to do, want is important to me, and who i want to be.

  2. Over the past semester I have become more aware of my own views as well as the moral views on the subject. It is important to have your own views as well as hear other opinions. It is good to hear other view points beside your own because it lets you open your eyes to different situations and through this class I was able to see that.

  3. Over the past semester, topics discussed in class have opened my eyes to things that will make me make different decisions in the future. I wouldn't necessarily say that my morals have changed, however with the tools, information, and explanations in class, my moral have been reinforced. I now look at things in life with different attitudes and I am now more aware of how I may be perceived and how I so willingly perceive others. I don't think of class as a morality class. I think of class as a guide to answer the questions that may not be so obvious and surprisingly have more of an impact on your life than one would have thought.

  4. Since I have taken this class, my moral viewpoints have been broadened as well as reinforced. I have been taught that even though it is hard to realize sometimes, not everyone will agree on things, and some things we will never know the answers to. The idea that God has a purpose for everything and that we are all hear for a specific and different reason has been reinforced. I have been able to see other's viewpoints more and rationalize ideas using my Catholic principles more.

  5. Before taking this class on morality I never really thought that deeply about what may be the wrong thing to do. Now I feel that I am now willing to second think about my actions and really try to see right from wrong. I also feel I have been taught a lot and that I am more willingly able to determine right from wrong.I feel this is a class that a lot of people should take.

  6. Coming into morality class my morals were not fully stable yet this class has helped me to reinforce and stabilize those morals. This class has taught me how to perceive others and how others perceive me, how to make decision, communicate with other, setting goals, the catholic viewpoint on specific topics and so much more. Most of all, this class has taught me to stick to my morals/values in any situation I am presented with. My morals with lead me in the right direction and if I stick to my morals, nobody can influence me. Morality class has given me a chance to open my view of others ideas and moral viewpoints and willingly accept them.

  7. Over this past semester of morality, it surprised me how strongly relationships are depicted in life. The importance of developing relationships is crucial and I learned that there are so many different ways to heal broken relationships as well as decipher whether or not a relationship is healthy. I learned how unhealthy relationships can damage ourselves individually and how in order to grow and develop our own moral conscience and individuality, we must hold relationships with many different kinds of people and we need to understand how to communicate in relationships in order to make them work.

  8. Coming into this Morality class i wasn't sure what to expect, but i fully enjoyed this class. i learned how to not only learn about myself and what is important to me but how to communicate properly with someone else and how to handle their views against mine. its not common that you will find someone with the same views as yourself so you need to learn to know how to cope with outside views. this class has given me a chance to learn how to accept and open up about other's views on things.

  11. Over the past semester, I have learned many things that have contributed to my moral viewpoint. I have learned to be more aware of the decisions I make and the effects they have on others. By learning about topics such as self-perception, I have learned a lot about myself. I have reinforced the good qualities that I have as well as the not so great qualities that I have to improve on. Also, I have learned about the importance of having goals in life. By setting goals, one is able to focus on the positives rather than the negatives of life. In addition, I have learned about the importance of friendships and relationships. I have even learned how to be a better communicator and listener with the people I associate with. Because of all that I have learned in morality class, my morals and values have strengthened and have shaped me into the person God has called me to be.

  12. Over the past semester, I have gained a stronger base to my moral viewpoint. The main thing I gained was a stronger perception on what a healthy relationship is. I learned many things to help strengthen the many relationships and connections in my life. I learned how to be a better friend. I learned what a healthy love life is. I also learned how to be a better communicator, in turn, a better listener. I learned to set reasonable goals for myself that I could build up from to reach better goals. But most importantly, I gained the foundation to be strong and not ashame of my religion and values.

  14. I think that throughout the course of this semester, my moral viewpoint has mostly been strengthened, especially regarding the Life Issues. Hearing all of the arguments from both sides has helped me to feel more confident in my viewpoint knowing that I am basing my opinions off of all the information there is to hear. My moral viewpoint has also been broadened however, by learning about communication and relationships and how much really goes into a relationship between any two people, including what I can do to be a better communicator and therefore a better participant in my relationships.

  15. Throughout the past semester, I think that my viewpoints have not changed, however they have been reinforced and broadened. For example, I've always considered myself a good communicator; however, since our class discussion about communication, I realized that in some situations I need to be more open, let the other person know that I'm listening, and not automatically try to fix their problems for them. In addition, our class "moot courts" were also very informative, and helped me to see both sides of issues, even those that I never agreed with before. Overall, I think I've learned a lot of things in Morality, that I hope to bring into my daily life.

  16. Personally, I feel that my moral view on things haven't really changed. Iv'e always had the same view on things but I never really executed my views until I took this class. When your taught things that you believe in, it gives you a reinforcement to actually live out your life based on those beliefs.

  18. Over the course of the semester, I was constantly advised to figure out exactly what my morals and values are and to learn how to apply those morals into my everyday life. Now that it is the end of the semester I am sure of what my morals and values are, and I know the deeper meaning of what they specifically mean to me and I know how I should be using them in everyday decision making.

  19. Thanks to morality, I had a lot of fun this semester. Between the goal plan, values project & debates, I got to explore different aspects of myself and my faith in new ways. The Goal Plan Project was my favorite because it gave me motivation while trying to eliminate stress in my life and the outcome was a positive result. I also know the possible consequences of my actions if I do not perform well. My moral views have also been deepened when it comes to relationships thanks to the theories of Bradshaw, etc. - Jenna Latushko

  20. Over the past semester I felt that I have grown morally and came to terms on certain issues I haven't really payed attention to before. I feel that I am working harder on my goals and trying to relieve my stress. I feel that now I am more so into trying to achieve my goals. I realize that every decision I make affects me and there are consequences that go with each decision whether good or bad. I know that with my family and God I could get through everything.

  21. I feel that over the past semester I have expanded my moral perspective. I feel that I can see situations in a different "light". I am more aware of the affect of the choices I make in my life and how they affect me as well as the people around me.I no longer feel that I need to impress anyone with the choices that I make and I am happy with being myself.

  22. I feel that over the semester, my view of morality has widened. It is no longer a subject that is preached about and forced upon me. It is something that is apart of me, and something that I contemplate about myself. I know now that in recognizing its significance, I must also work to improve it, which I have also accomplished over the semester. I feel there is no more I can be taught about the topic (Mr. Stayton has done his job well)and that it is now my responsibility to take what I've learned, and better myself as a person. I'm capable of doing this, because I know myself, and I have come to respect myself.

  23. Over this past semester of Morality, I have learned the importance of values, goals, relationships, and moral viewpoints. Morality this semester has shown me the various view points of the church, and has helped me discover my personal viewpoints.

  24. Over the past semester my moral viewpoint has been reinforced by the things we learned. One of the things I have been informed of is the church's moral viewpoints and virtues and I have learned how to have better relationships and better communication skills. I have also learned how to choose my goals, how to have better decision making, and how to develop potential. With the projects we had to do such as our Goal Plan project or the Moot Court, my moral views have been better improved and influenced. I feel that I am much more aware of the possibilities of my life and I am glad I went through morality class this semester.

  25. Over this past semester I feel like my morals have been shaped and reinforced definitely. I think that talking about moral decision making, alone helps keep us on the right track of making moral decisions. This class was a great help at reinforcing my Christian, and personal morals.

  26. This past semester I have learned about my morals, and through my classmates I have seen other people's morals as well. My morals have shaped and changed some. I have also learned about goal setting and how to show others I am communicating. Also, I have learned that there is not always a right answer to things, such as the social issues we did in Moot Court, and sometimes both options are bad. Some situations in life will give two bad choices to choose from, and you have to pick. I enjoyed this class, and I liked that it was more than just students being told what was right and what was wrong.

Overall I believe this class has helped me grow as a person and has taught me beneficial skills I will use for the rest of my life.

  29. Over the past semester, I have widened my moral viewpoint. This year we have covered many different controversial issues and have learned about different viewpoints. When we were learning about these different issues, I was able to experience and listen to different opinions from my peers. Through listening to different point of views, I have shaped my personal moral viewpoints. I now have a deeper understanding of my morals and values and what they mean to me.

  30. In the beginning of the year, I really wasn't too sure what exactly what morality class would be like or what I would learn, or even if it would be a helpful class. But, over the past semester, I have learned not only the opinions and views of both the Church and Society, but also, what I really think about these issues. My moral values have changed dramatically because I am now fully aware of all the things to consider before making a decision of any kind. I now know to make a conscious effort in finalizing my decisions. Not only will it help me in the far future, but also in the immediate future especially now, while I am in my junior year, still young and not sure of what to do about things and deciding a college. I now have a strong understanding of what exactly morals and values are and what mine are.
