I believe that you cannot be too easy or too hard on yourself but that there has to be a balance between the two. Although being hard on yourself can push you to be more determined and work harder, if you are TOO hard on yourself you will never be satisfied with what you do. If you are never satisfied with what you do, then you will never be happy with who you are. Even when you do something good you know in your head that you could’ve done better, but at the same time you will strive to go the extra mile. Being too hard on yourself causes you to be in a competition with you. On the other hand, if you are easy on yourself then you will be satisfied with the minimum amount and will never do anything more than what is required. You will not strive to be the best that you can be, but will be happy with yourself even knowing that you can do more. If I had to choose one I believe that it is better to be hard on yourself than to be easy. -Ashley Severino
For me personally, I am always my own toughest critic. Whether it is in the classroom, in the pool, or at home, I always prove to be my own worst enemy. I consider myself to have an "OCD personality" where I have to be great at everything I do and give 110% every time. However as I have learned recently, it is extremely difficult to remain sane while possessing this lifestyle. I think that it is easy to have an extreme version of being too easy or hard, but finding a balance is the ultimate key. It's about knowing yourself and knowing what you can handle. You want to be challenged, but you don't want to be overly stressed. You want to enjoy life, but you don't want to easily breeze through either. Balance is the goal to every element in life and this includes how you treat yourself. Although it may not be easy, once you know yourself I think every person has the ability to find this "balance" in their life.
In life, you cannot be too easy or hard on yourself. You have to have some kind of motivation in your life and without being hard on yourself you would have no way of reaching your goals. But you also cannot be too easy on yourself, you have to find a happy medium. The point at how hard or easy you are on yourself depends on other influences in your life. At IHA for example we have teachers, colleges, students and our parents all pushing us to do our best so we do not have to find as much self motivation as kids at a public school since we have people being hard on us from every angle. We have to balance how hard we push ourselves or we will eventually push too hard and that can have bad consequences.
I believe that you cannot be too hard on yourself but you also cannot be too easy. In order to live a healthy life you have to have a mixture of both. I do better when I put myself under pressure, which is hard not to do when you go to IHA. The homework, studying, extra clubs and activities make girls more stressed out and put more pressure on themselves. In order for us to do well and succeed we need to go easy on ourselves because the more relaxed we are the better person we will be.
I believe that in order to have a healthy life routine, it is essential that you are not too hard on yourself but not too easy. If the time comes where you get a bad grade on a test or realize you did not do your homework, the solution is not to be too hard on yourself but also it isn't right to act like you just don't care. Not being prepared for something once or twice will give you the mind set that you will try your hardest to be more prepared rather than beat yourself up over it. Having a healthy balance of not being too hard on yourself but not too easy will make you a better person and keep you relaxed and have little stress in your life.
Being humans, we are known to be too hard on ourselves. For example, I am extremely hard on myself when it comes to certain subjects. As an athlete, I tend to push myself mentally and physically and I try to persevere through my workouts and practices. Being hard on yourself can be good sometimes, depending on what the specific thing it is. Last December I had shoulder surgery due to pushing my limit for throwing faster. I learned that I shouldn't have been pushing myself so hard and in spite of being hard on myself, I ended up with a torn rotator cuff and a labral tear. I know from my experience now, that I must have an equal balance between being hard on myself and also expecting to be easy on myself depending on what it is. When it comes to my school work, I know when's the limit that I need to stop myself before I put myself over edge and become completely stressed out. Grade wise, I stride for an A but I'm not much of an A student. Everyone needs a balance between knowing when its too hard on yourself to when you're not pushing yourself hard enough. -Noelle Kochakian
I think it is better to be hard on myself. If I am hard on myself than I start to see things as a challenge. If i set the bar high for myself then I can see just what I am capable of doing and achieving. If I am too easy on myself, I know I will only do the bare minimum of what is expected of me and I will not achieve anything at all.
I think it's best to strike a balance between the two. If you're too easy on yourself, you start to not care. Bad grades? Eh, it happens. Stuff like that. And that's not good, obviously. But if you're too hard on yourself, it's really unpleasant and counterproductive. Bad grade?!?!?! OH MY GOSH I'M A FAILURE. And then you start beating yourself up and putting too much pressure on yourself, and that's not good for you at all. So if you get a bad grade, forgive yourself. But resolve to do better next time, and work yourself to that better grade. Balance is key. -Emma Clarke
I think that it is important to be hard on yourself and set high standards for yourself, but be easy enough on yourself to know when your expectations are unachievable. I'd rather be too hard on myself and strive for excellence, even though I stress myself out sometimes, rather than settle for less than my best. However, there is a difference between being hard on yourself so that you expect much from yourself and being hard on yourself so that you feel like a bad person when you make a mistake. I do think that I'm very hard on myself, but I also recognize that I cannot be perfect. I believe that the perfect balance lies within asking great things of both yourself and others, while acknowledging that it may take a few tries to get it right.
To Be or Not To Be....Is it better for you to be easy on yourself or hard on yourself?
I think that at times it is good to be easy on yourself and it is good to hard on yourself. Personally,I think that it is good to be hard on yourself so that you have motivation and it makes you achieve goals that you set for yourself. It can allow you to grow as a person. You can become successful through hard work and that sometimes means being hard on yourself. But I also feel it is good to be easy on yourself. You only human and you can only endure so much. Your only on this planet once so you might as well have fun while your hear and let things slide sometimes!
I think it's good to be a mixture. Like with most things in life, too much of one thing isn't good. I know I'm always really hard on myself. I beat myself up over the littlest things. But I feel like it depends on the issue. It's easy to be hard on yourself for things like school and athletics. I think it's harder to be hard on yourself for things that are difficult, like kicking a bad habit or not procrastinating as much. I think it's up to the individual person to know themselves, and know how hard or easy they need to be on themselves. That isn't to say you should be hard on yourself all the time. You'd just walk around for your whole life feeling like a complete failure, and that's obviously not a whole lot of fun. -Amanda Carpenter
Personally, i feel that there are certain times where you should be hard on yourself and easy on yourself. Being hard on yourself is good in some situations such as when you get a bad grade on a test, you should be hard on yourself and make sure you study harder for the next test. In some situations you should be easy on yourself, if there is to much stress in your life or you are getting to overwhelmed you should go easy on yourself and not pick out every little thing you did wrong that day. Also with tests, if you are a straight A student and you fail one little quiz you shouldnt go hard on yourself because its only one grade and you are a good student. But going hard on yourself can be bad sometimes and stress you out but being easy on yourself to much wont get you anywhere in life.
To become a better person you have to be equal on yourself. You need to know when something is unbalanced. If you are to easy on yourself you might go into a spiraling downfall in life; at the same time if you are to hard on yourself you will stress yourself out and than go into a spiraling downfall. Work hard but take breaks is the way I follow, meaning do what you can but when you get the feeling of stress take a break relax and give yourself time to step away from the work, but when it is time to get back you start the process again. Never force yourself to stress out but never sack off.
This is an age old question. In order to accomplish anything in life one must be motivated and disciplined and sometimes one cane be their own worst critic and very hard on one own self. However, this discipline must be tempered and submissive to ones owns sense of positive self worth and the pursuit of happiness. In order to achieve this happiness one must be positive and love ones self and be easy on ones self. Brittany Tarantino
I think it's better to be hard on yourself because you will always push yourself to do your best. In order to achieve your full potential you need to be hard on yourself and you can't settle for the minimum. However, I definitely think it is possible to be TOO hard on yourself. I push myself to the extremes and work hard in everything I do. As a result of this, I always feel stressed and always feel like I can do better, even when I'm doing my best. I often feel disappointed in myself. I think it's important to know how to balance. It's important to push yourself and be hard on yourself but you can't over do it. Sometimes you need to give yourself a break. Laura Ciano
I believe that it is better to be hard on yourself than it is to be easy on yourself, but only to a certain extent. No one should ever be too hard or too easy on themselves and I also feel that it's best to be right in the middle. You must push yourself to accomplish the things you want in life. However, if you push yourself too much you won't realize the hard work that you put in, and will see everything you do as not being good enough. Also, being too easy on yourself will not lead you on the path to success because you need to discipline yourself in order to achieve anything in life!
I feel that we need a little bit of both in our lives. We need to be hard on ourselves and manage our time when we need to get things done. But you can't be pushing yourself so hard that you feel that everything is so hectic and stressful, like for example you are in an honors class and you keep pushing yourself because you want to succeed but you know that you are not meant to be in that place. That is living an unhealthy life and that is not a good way to live. But you also can't be too easy going and let things slide because then you will become lazy. See i am a pretty laid back person but i know when i need to focus and get things done so i feel that everyone needs to have a little bit of both things inside of them.
I believe that we need to be both hard and easy on ourselves depending on the situation. Personally, I like to be hard on myself to do the best that i can to feel successful. Being hard on myself pushes me to do better and better each time. School wise and definitely with sports i try to achieve the best. If we are too easy on ourselves nothing gets accomplished, we don't succeed and we will never be happy with who we are. Always trying our best enhances our character to better and accomplished people.
Being too easy on yourself or being too hard on yourself really depends on the person. Personally, I am already too hard on myself and stress myself out more than I need too. (That goes for a lot of us at IHA.) However, I think that if I didn't do this I would become really lazy, really quickly, so personally I would rather be hard on myself because that's just how I am. But if you are discussing a relaxed, easygoing person, it would be better to keep them comfortable and let them be easy on themselves. All in all, it depends on yourself as the person and what gets you motivated to work or helps you cope with a failure. Ideally, I think a middle ground between putting yourself down and letting a lot slide is best, but that is not typically feasible for a person because we're not perfect.
In order to live a stable lifestyle, one must be equally hard and easy on themselves. Of course, that is easier said than done. Attending IHA comes along with stress from a demanding workload as well as several extracurricular activities all on your mind the entire year. This personally affects me, and I know I am too hard on myself. I never let myself take a break and am constantly aiming for perfection. This, obviously, is impossible for anyone to achieve, but it is easy to feel that it is expected of you. If I was easy on myself, I know I wouldn't get anywhere because I would lack complete motivation to do anything. I recently promised myself to make sure I do something for me, or relax, at least once a week, but I digress. Most people do their best when they are hard on themselves, but being easy on oneself sometimes would even everything out. It's definitely healthy to be both, but sometimes it's not actually possible. -Nicole Czajka
I personally think that there should be an equal balance between the two. Being too easy on yourself wouldn't be beneficial and being too hard on yourself would could be somewhat extreme. It is good to be hard on yourself to an extent being that it helps you push your limits and helps you realize what goals you truly want to achieve in life. It is also good to be easy on yourself once in a while so that you have a sense of satisfaction, happiness and calmness. Too much pressure on yourself isn't always healthy so once in a while, it's necessary to relax. But like others have said, I agree that it's almost impossible to equally balance out the two. If a person had an equal balance between the two, they would basically be considered perfect. That, as we all know, is not possible.
In order to live a successful happy life, you need to work hard, based on your level of happiness, achievement capabilities and personal feelings. Working hard is a great characteristic, because hard work definitely pays off in the long run. However, I feel when someone is over-worked, and too hard on themselves, they should take a break and calm the mind. Calming, and relaxing your heart, soul and mind, is not only good for you, but for the other people around you. Being hard on your self gives you the motivation to work hard, to be successful, happy and to achieve wonderful things. But, every once in a while, a self health day to bring you back to reality, comes with being hard on yourself:)
A healthy balance between the two is desirable. Being too easy on yourself will cause you to become lazy and not take things as seriously as they should be. But at the same time, being too hard on yourself will just lead to an unhappy lifestyle, where you feel you are never good enough. Although I believe it is a better to be a little more hard on yourself, because it will push you to always try to do better. In academics, athletics, and just about everything in life there is always room for improvement. Being a tad harder on yourself will allow you to always stride to be better without thinking you're a complete failure. -Abby Holmes
In my opinion it is better to be hard on yourself so you have a challenge. If you make life too easy, then it gets boring. Being hard on yourself allows you to test your limits and push your comfort zone. You can find out more about and learn about yourself. Although I think it is more beneficial to be hard on yourself, once in a while it is okay to make things easy for yourself so you have a break. Briana Gorman
I personally think that being hard on yourself is good for you. But like everything else, we need to do things in moderation. We have to push ourselves, but we should know our limits. It's not healthy when you strive to do so well that you hit a breaking point which often happens here at IHA because of all the pressure and expectations. When I'm harder on myself I tend to be more successful, but everybody needs to take it easy once in a while.
I think that in order to be the best person you can be, you have to be hard on yourself. However, this does not mean that you must be extremely hard on yourself so that you can’t relax and enjoy life. By pushing yourself to your limits, you can achieve greatness and success. In IHA, all girls tend to be hard on themselves. Whether they yearn to get a good grade on a test or desire to have a perfect essay, IHA girls push themselves in order to achieve success. Therefore, being hard on yourself is good because you become more dedicated, focused, and willing to go above and beyond instead of doing just the bare minimum. For me, I always tend to be hard on myself. Even though I try to do my best, I always strive for better. Being the first child in my family, I have always strived to be a role model for my younger siblings. I also desire to be a good student in order to make myself as well as my parents proud of my achievements. Therefore, by being hard on myself, I desire to be the best person that I can be, and I never settle for less than my best. - Taryn Heiser
I believe, in order to live a healthy life, one must be equally hard and easy on themselves. When people are hard on themselves, it shows that they care about the things that they do and want the best outcome; it displays that they want to succeed later on in life and live happily. However, being too hard on oneself has its consequences. For example, trying too hard to succeed can put too much pressure and stress on someone, causing them not to live a healthy and relaxed life. Nevertheless, people do need to be somewhat easy on themselves. Pushing for success is great, yet one needs to accept failure because it happens to everyone. People need to understand that not everything is perfect; once they grasp that, they will live a healthier life. On the other hand, being too easy on oneself can also be a problem. People need to strive for the best, but if it isn't reached, pick up and try again. -Lea Candelmo
I believe that one must balance the two in order to succeed. One cannot succeed without determination and goals; but it is not healthy to constantly be pushing yourself to extreme limits. I think that our society often demands us to be extremely hard on ourselves. The competitive nature of Americans causes us to believe that our best is never really enough. I think that the question of whether to be hard or easy on ourselves can only be answered by carefully considering the differences of each individual. Some might have to be hard on themselves in order to reach their goals, while others may be more motivated without needing to be as hard on themselves. So, I believe that it is only once you truly know who you are that you can answer this question. For it is only after an honest evaluation that you will reach a verdict that will ultimately lead to your success. ~Jennifer Capone
I think it is good to be easy and hard on yourself at the appropriate times. Being too hard on yourself can result in major unhappiness when you dont exceed to goal you set; being too easy on yourself cant improve what you do and ultimately may get you know where. I also think there is a fine line between being too hard and challenging yourself. Should you challenge yourself? Heck yeah, especially when you know you can do it and you encourage yourself. Just dont "challenge" yourself to the point of anxiety and fear of falling short where it prevents you from being yourself. Ultimately, I think you should always challenge yourself and be a little tougher when youre not doing your best, but also go easy if you know you did your absolute best and there was nothing else you could have done to do better.
I think that in certain situations you need to be hard on yourself, depending on the situation. But if you are always hard on yourself and never give yourself a break, thats not healthy. You have to give yourself a break sometimes, going to a school like IHA there really isn't time to be easy on yourself, but I think that everyone would benefit more from going a little easier on themselves rather than being hard on themselves. Though you should have a motivation in life and work your best to achieve your goals, when you dont achieve them you should not be so hard on yourself, everything happens for a reason.
I believe that it is better to be hard on yourself. If you are too easy on yourself, how will you grow as a person? If you are easy on yourself and let everything slip by you than you will get nowhere in life. I believe that you have to be hard on yourself and push yourself so you can succeed and be the person you are called to be. Never settle for less than your best. -Cassandra Lombardi
I think that it depends on the situation because if you're too easy about yourself, you can justify almost anything you do. On the other hand, there are times when you get too down on yourself about stupid and insignificant mistakes. If i had to choose one over the other though, i would say that it is better to be hard on yourself. If you're harder on yourself, you will eventually learn from your mistakes and mature in the process. If you're hard on yourself i think you will end up a better person and keep yourself on the right path instead of being too easy on yourself and making the same mistakes over and over. - Stephanie Schulz
i believe that it sometimes is challenging to be yourself. I always find it easier to be myself around my friends and family then i would in front of strangers or my boyfriend. I think that we may find it difficult to to be yourself around others because we feel that people may judge us and may not like us. I have grown over the years and have learned that you can not just give someone your trust they must earn it.
Although it can be bad to constantly be easy on yourself, being too hard on yourself is also bad. I am constantly hard on myself because I do it to push myself and stay determined. I feel that others who are too easy on themselves don't do very well in life because they don't work hard. Truthfully, there should be a balance between the two. Sometimes those who are too hard on themselves can go through emotional problems and tend to hate themselves. Although this seems extreme, it does happen. I like to think that I have a happy medium when it comes to my life. -Corina Dypko
I think that it's important to find a balance between being too easy on yourself and too hard on yourself. I tend to be the one that's always so hard on myself, and I know that I bring a lot of stress upon myself. On the other hand, if I don't put pressure on myself, and things don't go the way I planned them to, I tend to be equally as upset and stressed. I think its important to find a balance between being too hard and too easy on yourself because both extremes tend to have negative effects. However, if you try to find a balance between the two, I think that you would be able to see the positive benefits of both. - Mary Curry
I think that it is important to find a balance between the two extremes. Both extremes without the balance of the other are dangerous to our character. If I was constantly hard on myself for every mistake, whether it be academically or emotionally, I would be depressed. I would constantly critique my every flaw and never appreciate the success in my life. There are also consequences for being too easy on ourselves too. If I was constantly too easy on myself, whether it be academically or emotionally, I would never learn the values of hard work and responsibility. I would never own up for my mistakes and would reduce myself to a lazy lifestyle. Overall, I believe finding a balance between the extremes is key to a healthy lifestyle. -Rachel Lottermann
In some aspects of life, I think it is better to be hard on yourself. For example, when you have a goal that needs to be accomplished, you have to be inspired and push yourself to achieve your dream. By being hard on yourself, it is possible to become a better, more aware person. However, in other cases it may be best to let a failure slide because it is essential for someone to understand they are not perfect and every slip-up does not have to be the end of the world. Being both hard on yourself and easy on yourself is solely up to your discretion in certain situations. Gina Carlino
Although we always want to be successful and earn the greatest reward, that is not always a realistic goal to set for ourselves. Each and every day I wake up and say I will push myself to do better than the day before. Depending on the situation, sometimes it is better to be hard on yourself and sometimes it is better to be easy on yourself. If there is a goal that you have been dreaming of accomplishing, you can not just sit around and wait for it; you must push yourself harder than normal and work for it. Things that we want so bad don’t come as easy as we would hope. While sometimes it is important to be hard on ourselves, other situations require us to be relaxed about. We may not achieve our full potential if we are constantly just pushing ourselves beyond our limits. It is important to give yourself a break. As a student at IHA, the competition is fierce and everyone is pushing themselves to get the best grades or be the best in sports, but that tends to hold us back from just being the person we want to be, not the person we have to be. I know that pushing yourself is important most of the time, but we also need to be easy in order to accept ourselves completely.
Sometimes being hard on yourself isn't such a bad thing. When you set high standards for yourself and don't accept anything but what you know you are fully capable of, you receive more satisfying results. However, when I say to be hard on yourself I don't mean setting goals that are impossible. I just mean that you shouldn't settle for less than your personal best. If you never set high standards you will never find out what your personal best actually is. Therefore, if you are hard on yourself because you know that you can do better, that is a good thing.
I believe it is important to be hard on yourself. Self-discipline and self-control are important qualities, and unless you are hard yourself you cannot really be the best person you are meant to be. However, we can't be too, too hard on ourselves because it is important to relax and enjoy life, and realize that it is okay to make mistakes because we learn from them. I therefore conclude that you need a good medium between being hard on yourself and being easy on yourself. -Margaret Montovano
I think its better to be easier on yourself, i dont think it shows a lack of discipline or anything like that. People who are too hard on themselves always seem to kill their self confidence or never forgive themselves for mistakes they have made. Someone who is easy on themselves will likely move forward from an experience with a new perspective and not dwell on it. I dont think you can be too easy to where your at the point where you dont care anymore, but i do think it is more effective to be easy on yourself. - Katie Leithauser
I think it’s very important to be both hard on oneself and easy on oneself depending on the situation. However I think that in order to live a fun and successful life a person needs to have a balance between the two. I think it’s a bad thing to be too easy on oneself because that tends to lead people to slack off however it is also a bad thing to be too hard on oneself because it often leads to unneeded stress which is why I think this balance is crucial.
I think that being too easy, or too hard on oneself are two extremes people should try to avoid. Ether example could make you “your own worst enemy.” Personally, I try to stay as in the middle as I can; however, I sometimes find myself leaning towards one side more than the other. I have learned that to stay balanced, it is helpful to take time to reflect of the things I do. By reflecting I try to put everything in perspective. This helps me see, and reevaluate the things in my life that are ether extreme, and try to fix it. Luisa Rooney
I believe it is better to be hard on yourself because sometimes we do not know what our bodies are able to do physically and mentally. Sometimes when we push ourselves we learn more about ourselves then we had ever intended to. If you live your life being easy on yourself there seems as if there would be no accomplishments to achieve. Being hard on yourself guarantees taking some kind of risk. When you take a risk, an unknown can be discovered about oneself. When you make those kind of discoveries it helps build and grow as an individual. -Katie Ingrasci
In my opinion it is not good to be too easy or hard on yourself. I feel that it is best to find a median. If you are too hard on yourself you will never be happy with any goals that you may accomplish. This can also make you forget what is important in life such as your health, family, and friends. Being too easy on your self can cause you to not have goals. If you do not have any goals you may start to feel that there is no purpose in life. It isn't easy to find a median. But, if you are able to accomplish finding a median it will allow you to live you life to the fullest with a positive attitude. - Laura Puzino
I believe that it is important to have a "balance" so to speak when it comes to being either too hard or too easy on yourself. If you are too hard on yourself, you may have a low self-esteem and value of worth, and eventually fall into a depression. If you are too easy on yourself, you are probably not giving yourself enough standards and goals, which can lead to a downfall. It is important to have a balance because you will most likely not find yourself in a depressed mindset, but you will also give yourself a kick in the butt at times you need it.
I think that there has to be a little of both. It's not good being too easy on yourself all the time and not good being hard on yourself all the time. You need to know when to do either and balance it out, not one all the time because you'll either be over critical of yourself or never get much done. -Roksana
I believe it is better to be harder AND easier on yourself. At some points in your life you really need to push yourself to do better. It is up to you to make goals and try to accomplish them. But, you also need to be go easy on yourself. Life isn't all about being perfect. Sometimes you just need to relax and take things slower. A combination of these two will help you to get things you want.
By nature I’m a lot harder on myself than those around me. Although it’s not such a good idea to stress myself out and take myself so seriously, I honestly don’t find much wrong with it. I’m entirely self-motivated and very independent, and I’d much rather rely on myself to get something done than have to rely on someone else. It’s not a trust issue, just the fact I know I can get things done how I think they should be done. Although, since I do take everything to heart, it’s extremely hard for me to take criticism from other people seeing as I usually criticize myself enough. A moderation of being a little easy on yourself but more hard on yourself would be the best combination in my opinion.
I believe that it is better to be hard on yourself in order to achieve in life, but at times depending on the situation and how important it is, there is no need to be hard on yourself over something so little or something that you are able to change. In this environment us IHA girls are always in you have no choice but to be hard on yourself in order to achieve when it comes to school and sports and all the competition. If you were constantly easy on yourself i feel as if you would not achieve your ability, where as when being hard on yourself at times you are able to live up to your ability and accomplish and achieve all that you are capable of.
Naturally, I am harder on myself than I should be.But I would not have achieved the things I have achieved today if I wasn't. I believe that being hard on yourself is more beneficial, but it definitely does not bring you happiness. Being too easy on yourself obviously won't get you anywhere either. If anything, there should be a balance.
I think one of the worst things a person can do is be too easy on themselves and not challenge themselves enough. If you don't challenge yourself then you will never be able to recognize your full potential and what you are really capable of. However, it isn't good to be too hard on yourself. For me personally as well as with many other people i'm sure, I am my worst critic. Whether, it is with school or sports I rarely give myself a break and I always push myself to do better. Where this takes a negative turn is when I push myself so far that I lose all enjoyment out of things. To parallel with my example of school and sports, I lose my enjoyment of learning and playing when I'm too hard on myself. When I am being too hard on myself it is usually because I am comparing myself to one of my peers who is doing better than me, which I know is a very bad way of thinking. You should never be too easy on yourself, but not too hard either
I think it's easier to be hard on myself. I always say I am my own toughest critic. Being harder on myself seems to make whatever I'm being hard on myself for seem better in the long run (if that makes sense). If I were too easy on myself I feel I wouldn't be able to get anything done, and nothing would turn out the way I want it to. I think there are certain things that I am harder on myself than others, like school work, sometimes I am extremely hard on myself, other times, I almost don't care. I think it all depends on what you're doing and how you want it to turn out.
I think that being hard and easy on yourself evenly is better. Sometimes people are far too hard on themselves, and beat themselves up about things that aren't even that important. Then there's people who don't really care about anything. I think with anything you just have to have it depend on what your doing. -ali pfleging
There is a difference between being hard on yourself and being a perfectionist. i feel you can never be too hard on yourself when you are striving for success. everybody has their own idea of what is good, great, or the best. on the other hand some people may take this to the exreme extend and never be happy with what they are oding because its not "perfect". i beleive in trying hard for things that are important to you so you feel happy what you have accomplished. so, it is better to be hard on yourself than to settle for something mediocre.
i personally feel that being harder on yourself allows you to become a stronger person. the high standards you set for yourself will allow you to fail, but eventually succeed. if you are always settling for the least you can do, you will never grow from your mistakes. It doesn't mean you need to put a lot of pressure on yourself all the time, but it does help you learn ho much you can truly push yourself. i personally like putting a lot of pressure on myself because i like trying to go the extra mile.

In reality a person should not be too hard on yourself or too easy on yourself, but in my life I think that I am too hard on myself because of the high standards we are faced with today. I think I am too hard on myself because of the way society is and how I am expected to succeed given the circumstances I am in. Having older brothers and sisters who excelled in school and now attend unbelievable colleges, I feel pressure to also excel in school and get into a good college. This has caused me to be hard on myself, whereas there should be a healthy medium between being too easy and too hard on yourself. -Maddy Ubriaco
I think that it is better for you to be hard on yourself because it lets you grow as a person. When you are hard on yourself it makes you want to do the best that you are able to. The pressure though can sometimes be hard to deal with because you want to live up to your standards. Being hard on yourself makes you want to succeed more so that you can become a better person. I personally think that I am hard on myself because I want to do the best that I am able to do even if that means pushing myself harder than normal. Doing this makes me feel good about myself. Laura Klein
In my opinion, it is better to be hard on yourself than to be easy on yourself. If you are easy on yourself, you will never expect more of yourself and you will never get better. Being easy on yourself makes you less motivated and less hard working. If you are easy on yourself, you are just creating excuses for yourself, which won't work out for you in the real world. Being hard on yourself makes you always wanting, expecting, and striving for more. I think it makes you more responsible and a better person. Of course, taking it to the extreme can also cause you problems, but for the most part, I would say it's better for you to be hard on yourself. - Hanna Brungardt
I think its not good to be either too easy on yourself nor too hard. I think that being hard on yourself is sometimes good because it challenges you to go beyond limits and expect more of yourself. I think they should be balance so you can be happy and proud of yourself.
I believe that you cannot be too easy or too hard on yourself but that there has to be a balance between the two. Being hard on yourself will push you do to the great things in life that you want to achieve. It can also brig you down. You can put a lot of stress on yourself and it could end badly. If you are to easy on yourself nothing will ever get done. If you are too easy on yourself it can end badly as well. You want to have an even amount of both of them.
I think that the most important part of deciding whether to be easy or hard on yourself is recognizing when it is appropriate to do one or the other. I think that there is a time and place for each, and that finding a balance between the two is most important. I tend to lean more towards being hard on myself, but lately I have made an effort to take it easier on myself when appropriate. I think it is important to be hard on yourself when it comes to important things in school like essays and tests, but easy on yourself when it comes to the little things like making every little thing perfect on your homework. I think it is important to push yourself to your full potential, but at the same time stay grounded and stress-free.
In my opinion I feel like it is easier to be harder on ourselves. I tend to think about the mistakes I've made and try and learn and grow from them. Being easy on ourselves is important because we need to acknowledge all of the good we do accomplish and celebrate. I tend to focus on working hard and going the extra mile. Being so hard on yourself could make you a stronger person and can help you learn to work for goals. But its important to relax and take it easy on yourself as well or else you wont be able to perform in your best potential. - Lauren LoPresti
In order to live a happy life, one has to work hard and take care of yourself. but, you sometimes do need to be hard on yourself in order to excel beyond our limits, which is not exactly better for us, but can be beneficial to our schoolwork and overall life.
Many human beings tend to be hard on themselves. I personally tend to be very hard on myself, which can be both good and bad. Being hard on myself helps me strive to achieve my maximum capabilities and does not allow me to get lazy and not care. However, being too hard on yourself as I have experienced, brings about a great deal of stress and worry. Everyone has a limit to what they can achieve and to set ridiculous standards for yourself will not help you do any better. It will allow you to work hard but it will never bring about any satisfaction because the standards trying to be lived up to are out of reach. It is good to be hard enough on yourself that you always strive to accomplish your best, but easy enough on yourself to prevent anxiety and pressure. Amanda Tedino
I think that people should never be to hard or easy on themselves. If we're trying to reach a goal, it is okay to push ourselves in order to reach it. However, if we're not able to achieve something we shouldn't worry about it because no one is able to achieve everything. It is normal to succeed and fail in life. If I have a test I have to study for I will make sure to study so that I get a good grade on it. If I do poorly on a test, I have to accept the fact that I can't change it and to make sure I do better on the next one. People should balance themselves out with how hard or easy they are on themselves because being to hard on yourself can give you a lot of stress and being to easy on yourself can lead to laziness and never getting anything accomplished. -Stephanie Machado
I believe a balance between being hard and easy on yourself is beneficial to achieving your goals and to improve yourself. Mistakes happen, and you have to learn from them instead of not being able to forgive yourself. Because there's nothing to do to change your mistake, you have to accept it. However, if you know you didn't put all your effort into something or know you could have tried harder, then it's ok to be a little hard on yourself to prevent laziness and procrastination in the future when trying to achieve your goals.
I think a person should not be too hard or too easy on themselves. If I had to choose between the two I would chose to hard on yourself because when I am to hard on myself I tend to do be the best I can be. This helps me in a lot of ways, like in school when I know I am not doing the best I can in a class I try really hard to reach the goal I want for that class. If I was a person who was too easy on myself I would become lazy when it comes to my grades and just keep telling myself I will do better on the next one until it’s the end of the quarter and I am stuck with that grade. Therefore I think being too hard on yourself is a better choice for me. - Stephanie Pierre
In my opinion, in order to reach your personal maximum human potential and capability, you should be hard on yourself. Everyone only lives once so why not try to be the best you can be? If you are hard on yourself you will achieve your personal goals and will be proud of yourself once you have accomplished and achieved them. Yes, we are suppose to enjoy life and there should defiantly be time to have fun and live life to the fullest! Living life to the fullest means to me, pushing myself to the fullest to receive the dreams I wish to accomplish in my lifetime. --Nicole Layton; Red Class

I think people tend to be more hard on themselves in most situations. I believe that you should have a balance between being hard on yourself and be easy on yourself. I try to be hard on myself during sports events and when studying for school. This helps because then I know that I have truly tried my hardest and put all my effort into whatever I'm doing. I try and be easy on myself when getting a bad grade or whenever I'm stressed out.
I think a healthy balance of being hard on yourself and being easy on yourself would be appropriate. You should only be hard on yourself when when you are setting high standards and difficult but possible goals to achieve. You should only be easy on yourself when the thing you want to achieve is either impossible or you've tried your hardest but your hardest wasn't good enough. As long as you've truly put your heart intro trying and you didn't accomplish your goal or stick to your standard, that is all that matters. You should, though, be hard on yourself if you did not try at all. Yet there is a difference from being hard on yourself to achieve something and being hard on yourself for making a mistake and genuinely feeling like you are a bad person. Human beings are designed to make mistakes an learn from them, so mistakes should be viewed as a learning process, rather than feeling like you're a complete failure. To achieve a perfect balance of both of these concepts, you should seek help from both yourself and others, and realizing that it takes a few times to get the right balance.
It can't really go either way. If you're easy on yourself you may not take things serious enough and may not be motivated to make a change when needed. For example, if you fail a test and take it easy on yourself you won't think it's a big deal when in actuality it is. If you're hard on yourself you may be a lot more stressed but you'll strive to make things better. If I had to pick one, I would say it's better to be hard on yourself because although you may be more stressed, down the road it will help you more and give you the lessons you need. - Ashley McKernan
I think it is wise to be both hard and easy on yourself, depending on the circumstances. Being hard on yourself is sometimes a good thing because pushes you to be better, or do better next time. However, in some cases people can take that a little too far, as they may lose self-confidence or self-respect. That is why, it is important to go easy on yourself sometimes, for it is fruitless to beat yourself up about things faults and occurrences that are out of your control. Even when it was in your control, it is important to know that we, as people will always screw up. On the same note, going too easy on yourself will cause you to lose motivation or drive that often pushes you to work past your faults and mishaps. Therefore, it is prudent to develop a healthy balance between going easy and hard on yourself. -Arianna Amodeo
I think there needs to be a balance between the two. In this generation some students are focused on being too much of an over achiever. If I had to pick between being too hard on yourself and being too easy on yourself I would pick being easy on yourself. By being easy on yourself, it does not mean to be lazy. It means to not allow things to easily stress you out. We need to learn how to enjoy life and take it as it comes rather than only focusing on academics and other things that stress us out. The only problem about being too hard on yourself is that as young adults we are dealing with too much stress than any person our age should. If it is not possible to find a balance between the two, I think it is smarter to be easy on yourself. -Lindsay Khoury
I think that it is best not to be too hard, but not to be to easy on yourself either. I think it is necessary to have a good balance of both in order to be successful. If you are too easy on yourself, you may not accomplish all that you are capable of or become very successful, because you will always be making excuses for yourself, and therefore not try your hardest. On the other hand being too hard on yourself isn't good either. If you are too hard on yourself, you will never be satisfied with your work, resulting in not being very happy. If you have a good balance of both, you will be able to succeed, and be satisfied knowing that you tried your hardest. -Christina Frio
I personally feel that it is important to find a medium between being hard or easy on yourself. As with anything, working too hard or working too easy can both lead to failure. This is why it is crucial to know how to challenge yourself just enough. When working on anything, make sure that you aren't just sitting around doing nothing. This would be being too easy on yourself. But also, don't use up all your free time working. This can be damaging to yourself because you need some time to relax. What will ultimately be successful is being able to challenge yourself with some breaks. Work hard at what your doing but also take some time to yourself. Don't stress too much, but don't be too easygoing either. With this mindset, balancing work will be easier. You know when you need to work, and when you can rest.
I think that it is best to be hard on yourself and easy on yourself. We must go on easy on our self and no over pressure each other. If we over pressure each other, then we cause unnecessary stress and anxiety in our lives. However, its also important for one to be hard on themselves because when we show discipline towards ourself we are setting morals and goals and are motivated to do well whether its in school, sports or any other activity. We must be able to balance out both pressure and pleasure meaning that we must put pressure on ourselves to do well but must also save time to have fun and enjoy doing the things we love
I believe that being easy hard on yourself pressures you to make the right choices and to do the right things in life. If I am hard on myself to get good grades, then that is implying that I need to study harder and work harder in my classes to gain the success I want to achieve. If I am easy on myself then I feel as if I do not have to work hard or study or review anything. Most people in the world know that when you work hard you usually gain the results that you are looking for. Sometimes when you are easy on yourself you do not work to your advantage.
To be... hard on myself is the only way i can get things done. By scaring myself into getting things done is the only way for me to succeed. if i am easy on myself i avoid doing things by saying that oh nothing bad will happen if i don't. By being negative i don't get my hopes up and when i fail i don't fall as hard.
To me, I believe being hard on my self is a lot easier than being easy on myself. If I'm not hard on myself, I feel like I wouldn't get things done as efficiently and quickly, but at the same time, if I'm too hard on myself, I might feel like i start to doubt myself so I start to be easy on myself. I start to be positive and tell myself I can do things a lot better and give myself a good time period of when I should do things. Telling myself I will do good and succeed is easier than being hard on myself and making me feel like if I don't do something I won't succeed. It is better that I am hard on myself when I have to apologize to someone because it motivates me instead of being easy on myself thinking the other person should apologize and I shouldn't. Being easy and hard on myself are both good ways for me depending on the situation.
I personally think it is best to be hard on yourself. This may be just based on the fact that I push myself very hard though. I do not allow myself to get B's in school or drop down from a 4.2 GPA. I constantly expect excellence from myself in everything I do which does put a great deal of stress on me to a point where it may be unhealthy but I have found it to be very successful for me which I see as more important. Being easy on yourself to me seems like an easy way out. It is a lazy way to accept mediocrity.
I believe it is better for me to be both easy and hard on myself. If I am to easy on myself then I would never get anything accomplished and if I am to hard on myself then I would get way tot stressed out and probably shut down. A good balance of the two is really important for me and although I sometimes lean more towards one more than the other I always end up balancing it, which reduces my stress level and makes my life manageable.
I think it is best to be somewhere in between. Being to hard on yourself, you may never find true happiness. Being to easy on yourself, may cause you to fall short of your true potential. With anything in life, it is never good to get too high or too low, it is best to stay in the middle and be balanced. -Casey Fazio
It is good to have a balance. You cannot be too easy on yourself where you become lazy, but you cannot be too hard on yourself where you get stressed out and exhausted. In order to have a good life you have to have a perfect balance of the two.
I believe it is critical to be hard on yourself at times and easy on yourself at times. If you are hard on yourself all the time, you will not have much confidence in your abilities. However, if you are easy on yourself all of the time, you will not be motivated to develop into all you can be. I believe it is important to balance the two. -Mary Tabatneck
From the point of view of a teenager, like myself, it is clearly much easier to be "easy" on yourself. High school is meant to be fun, and the association between hard work and accomplishments can be hard to make. However, it is noticeably better to be hard on yourself in the long run. By doing this, you can set numerous goals, and strive to better yourself through the process. -Una Semar

ReplyDeleteIn life, you cannot be too easy or hard on yourself.
ReplyDeleteI believe that you cannot be too hard on yourself but you also cannot be too easy.
ReplyDeleteI believe that in order to have a healthy life routine, it is essential that you are not too hard on yourself but not too easy.

ReplyDelete-Noelle Kochakian
I think it is better to be hard on myself. If I am hard on myself than I start to see things as a challenge. If i set the bar high for myself then I can see just what I am capable of doing and achieving. If I am too easy on myself, I know I will only do the bare minimum of what is expected of me and I will not achieve anything at all.
ReplyDeleteI think it's best to strike a balance between the two.
ReplyDelete-Emma Clarke
ReplyDeleteTo Be or Not To Be....Is it better for you to be easy on yourself or hard on yourself?
ReplyDeleteI think that at times it is good to be easy on yourself and it is good to hard on yourself.
ReplyDelete-Amanda Carpenter
ReplyDelete~Sami Lattarulo

ReplyDeleteBrittany Tarantino
I think it's better to be hard on yourself because you will always push yourself to do your best. In order to achieve your full potential you need to be hard on yourself and you can't settle for the minimum. However, I definitely think it is possible to be TOO hard on yourself. I push myself to the extremes and work hard in everything I do. As a result of this, I always feel stressed and always feel like I can do better, even when I'm doing my best. I often feel disappointed in myself. I think it's important to know how to balance. It's important to push yourself and be hard on yourself but you can't over do it. Sometimes you need to give yourself a break.
ReplyDeleteLaura Ciano
I believe that it is better to be hard on yourself than it is to be easy on yourself, but only to a certain extent. No one should ever be too hard or too easy on themselves and I also feel that it's best to be right in the middle. You must push yourself to accomplish the things you want in life. However, if you push yourself too much you won't realize the hard work that you put in, and will see everything you do as not being good enough. Also, being too easy on yourself will not lead you on the path to success because you need to discipline yourself in order to achieve anything in life!
ReplyDelete- Brittney Grant (Yellow)
ReplyDeleteI believe that we need to be both hard and easy on ourselves depending on the situation.
ReplyDeleteBeing too easy on yourself or being too hard on yourself really depends on the person.
ReplyDeleteIn order to live a stable lifestyle, one must be equally hard and easy on themselves.
ReplyDelete-Nicole Czajka
ReplyDeleteIn order to live a successful happy life, you need to work hard, based on your level of happiness, achievement capabilities and personal feelings.
ReplyDeleteA healthy balance between the two is desirable.

ReplyDeleteBriana Gorman
I personally think that being hard on yourself is good for you. But like everything else, we need to do things in moderation. We have to push ourselves, but we should know our limits. It's not healthy when you strive to do so well that you hit a breaking point which often happens here at IHA because of all the pressure and expectations. When I'm harder on myself I tend to be more successful, but everybody needs to take it easy once in a while.
ReplyDelete-Taylor-Leigh Ulisse

ReplyDelete-Lea Candelmo

ReplyDeleteI think that in certain situations you need to be hard on yourself, depending on the situation.
ReplyDeleteJulia Boylan
I believe that it is better to be hard on yourself. If you are too easy on yourself, how will you grow as a person? If you are easy on yourself and let everything slip by you than you will get nowhere in life. I believe that you have to be hard on yourself and push yourself so you can succeed and be the person you are called to be. Never settle for less than your best.
ReplyDelete-Cassandra Lombardi
I think that it depends on the situation because if you're too easy about yourself, you can justify almost anything you do. On the other hand, there are times when you get too down on yourself about stupid and insignificant mistakes. If i had to choose one over the other though, i would say that it is better to be hard on yourself. If you're harder on yourself, you will eventually learn from your mistakes and mature in the process. If you're hard on yourself i think you will end up a better person and keep yourself on the right path instead of being too easy on yourself and making the same mistakes over and over.
ReplyDelete- Stephanie Schulz
i believe that it sometimes is challenging to be yourself.

ReplyDeleteI think that it's important to find a balance between being too easy on yourself and too hard on yourself.
ReplyDelete- Mary Curry
ReplyDelete-Rachel Lottermann
In some aspects of life, I think it is better to be hard on yourself. For example, when you have a goal that needs to be accomplished, you have to be inspired and push yourself to achieve your dream. By being hard on yourself, it is possible to become a better, more aware person. However, in other cases it may be best to let a failure slide because it is essential for someone to understand they are not perfect and every slip-up does not have to be the end of the world. Being both hard on yourself and easy on yourself is solely up to your discretion in certain situations.
ReplyDeleteGina Carlino
ReplyDeleteSometimes being hard on yourself isn't such a bad thing.
ReplyDeleteI believe it is important to be hard on yourself.
ReplyDelete-Margaret Montovano
I think its better to be easier on yourself, i dont think it shows a lack of discipline or anything like that. People who are too hard on themselves always seem to kill their self confidence or never forgive themselves for mistakes they have made. Someone who is easy on themselves will likely move forward from an experience with a new perspective and not dwell on it. I dont think you can be too easy to where your at the point where you dont care anymore, but i do think it is more effective to be easy on yourself.
ReplyDelete- Katie Leithauser
I think it’s very important to be both hard on oneself and easy on oneself depending on the situation. However I think that in order to live a fun and successful life a person needs to have a balance between the two. I think it’s a bad thing to be too easy on oneself because that tends to lead people to slack off however it is also a bad thing to be too hard on oneself because it often leads to unneeded stress which is why I think this balance is crucial.
ReplyDelete-McKenna Paulson
I think that being too easy, or too hard on oneself are two extremes people should try to avoid. Ether example could make you “your own worst enemy.” Personally, I try to stay as in the middle as I can; however, I sometimes find myself leaning towards one side more than the other. I have learned that to stay balanced, it is helpful to take time to reflect of the things I do. By reflecting I try to put everything in perspective. This helps me see, and reevaluate the things in my life that are ether extreme, and try to fix it.
ReplyDeleteLuisa Rooney
I believe it is better to be hard on yourself because sometimes we do not know what our bodies are able to do physically and mentally. Sometimes when we push ourselves we learn more about ourselves then we had ever intended to. If you live your life being easy on yourself there seems as if there would be no accomplishments to achieve. Being hard on yourself guarantees taking some kind of risk. When you take a risk, an unknown can be discovered about oneself. When you make those kind of discoveries it helps build and grow as an individual. -Katie Ingrasci

ReplyDeleteIn my opinion it is not good to be too easy or hard on yourself.
ReplyDeleteI believe that it is important to have a "balance" so to speak when it comes to being either too hard or too easy on yourself.
ReplyDeleteI think that there has to be a little of both. It's not good being too easy on yourself all the time and not good being hard on yourself all the time. You need to know when to do either and balance it out, not one all the time because you'll either be over critical of yourself or never get much done.
ReplyDelete-Roksana
I believe it is better to be harder AND easier on yourself. At some points in your life you really need to push yourself to do better. It is up to you to make goals and try to accomplish them. But, you also need to be go easy on yourself. Life isn't all about being perfect. Sometimes you just need to relax and take things slower. A combination of these two will help you to get things you want.
ReplyDeleteBy nature I’m a lot harder on myself than those around me.
ReplyDeleteI believe that it is better to be hard on yourself in order to achieve in life, but at times depending on the situation and how important it is, there is no need to be hard on yourself over something so little or something that you are able to change.
ReplyDeleteNaturally, I am harder on myself than I should be.But I would not have achieved the things I have achieved today if I wasn't. I believe that being hard on yourself is more beneficial, but it definitely does not bring you happiness. Being too easy on yourself obviously won't get you anywhere either. If anything, there should be a balance.
ReplyDeleteI think one of the worst things a person can do is be too easy on themselves and not challenge themselves enough.
ReplyDeleteI think it's easier to be hard on myself.
ReplyDeleteI think that being hard and easy on yourself evenly is better. Sometimes people are far too hard on themselves, and beat themselves up about things that aren't even that important. Then there's people who don't really care about anything. I think with anything you just have to have it depend on what your doing.

ReplyDeletei personally like putting a lot of pressure on myself because i like trying to go the extra mile.

In order to live a happy life, one has to work hard and take care of yourself. but, you sometimes do need to be hard on yourself in order to excel beyond our limits, which is not exactly better for us, but can be beneficial to our schoolwork and overall life.
ReplyDeleteMany human beings tend to be hard on themselves.
ReplyDeleteAmanda Tedino
ReplyDelete-Stephanie Machado
I believe a balance between being hard and easy on yourself is beneficial to achieving your goals and to improve yourself. Mistakes happen, and you have to learn from them instead of not being able to forgive yourself. Because there's nothing to do to change your mistake, you have to accept it. However, if you know you didn't put all your effort into something or know you could have tried harder, then it's ok to be a little hard on yourself to prevent laziness and procrastination in the future when trying to achieve your goals.
ReplyDelete-Maria Southard
I think a person should not be too hard or too easy on themselves. If I had to choose between the two I would chose to hard on yourself because when I am to hard on myself I tend to do be the best I can be. This helps me in a lot of ways, like in school when I know I am not doing the best I can in a class I try really hard to reach the goal I want for that class. If I was a person who was too easy on myself I would become lazy when it comes to my grades and just keep telling myself I will do better on the next one until it’s the end of the quarter and I am stuck with that grade. Therefore I think being too hard on yourself is a better choice for me.

ReplyDeleteI think people tend to be more hard on themselves in most situations.
ReplyDelete-Colleen Painter
ReplyDeleteIt can't really go either way.

ReplyDelete-Lindsay Khoury
I think that it is best not to be too hard, but not to be to easy on yourself either. I think it is necessary to have a good balance of both in order to be successful. If you are too easy on yourself, you may not accomplish all that you are capable of or become very successful, because you will always be making excuses for yourself, and therefore not try your hardest. On the other hand being too hard on yourself isn't good either. If you are too hard on yourself, you will never be satisfied with your work, resulting in not being very happy. If you have a good balance of both, you will be able to succeed, and be satisfied knowing that you tried your hardest.
ReplyDelete-Christina Frio

ReplyDeleteI believe that being easy hard on yourself pressures you to make the right choices and to do the right things in life.

ReplyDeleteI personally think it is best to be hard on yourself.
ReplyDeleteI believe it is better for me to be both easy and hard on myself.
ReplyDeleteI think it is best to be somewhere in between. Being to hard on yourself, you may never find true happiness. Being to easy on yourself, may cause you to fall short of your true potential. With anything in life, it is never good to get too high or too low, it is best to stay in the middle and be balanced.

It is good to have a balance. You cannot be too easy on yourself where you become lazy, but you cannot be too hard on yourself where you get stressed out and exhausted. In order to have a good life you have to have a perfect balance of the two.
ReplyDeleteI believe it is critical to be hard on yourself at times and easy on yourself at times. If you are hard on yourself all the time, you will not have much confidence in your abilities. However, if you are easy on yourself all of the time, you will not be motivated to develop into all you can be. I believe it is important to balance the two.
